New dm500 (clone) just arrived

Hi all just got the call from the Mrs to let me know the dm500 had arrived. I bought the box from ukdreamshop dot co dot uk and noticed it comes with the gemini 4.6 image pre installed , dropped them a email to confirm this was a safe version , and they said yes. What you guys think ? . Is there a way to tell what version of the image has been preloaded with out turning it on, via dreamup of dreamedit and null lead possibly?

Its gonna be used on a 90cm dish with dual lnb on 28 and 13

if they say its ok then its ok, they are a proper outfit not some dodgy dealership, when i got mine from there i didnt even try what was on i just flashed with my own favourite pli images straight off,

was kinda thinking that route my self but i have not read enough yet about the procedure involved in getting pli jade onto the box ( and of course wanting to play with the new toy) , not sure if i just need to over write with another image or what , need to read more , but will probably use the gemini image till I understand the replacement procedure.

just test out the gp for a few days then if you want to try a differnt image id say try drakstar2. if very nice imo

After reading (probably too much) i seemes obvious that there is a issue with certain gemini images/clone combos and the fear of trashing a new box made me post the question. so thanks for every one thats replied.

On a side note i have to say that i wish i had discovered this forum early on in my reading as the posts/answers here are very good for newbies like myself who are technical .

hi im new to all this so dont know really what im doing. i have dreambox 500 got ALL english channels but dont know how to get the dutch channels, can anyone help

i am assuming you have the english freesat channels these broadcast at 28e ,

Dutch pay package channels are at 19e http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/canaldigitaal19.html

What type of dish set-up do you have? i.e a Sky mini-dish, a fixed multi-sat or motorized dish?
