    N00b question on Dreambox, DM500

    Hi!

I have got me a used DM500s, which I now suspect might be a clone. When I try to flash it with DreamUp and a null modem cable, I get an error message; "Aborted by user, Exiting".

    What can I do?

I have never seen this message, on either original nor clone ....

Try using DreamUP v1.3.3.4 not newest v1.3.3.6...

Which type of serial port do you have ? com port on your pc or usb->com port ? ....
many usb->com port dosen't work to flash dreamboxes...

I personally use trendnet tu-s9 usb to serial adapter, whcih works perfect on all dreambox models..

let me know if you get it working

I've had this flashing my DM800. I tried a different version of Dreamup and it worked ok. Try another version of Dreamup

      THE TRUTH
      The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

alternatively, try the network method. As long as you are connected to the same router DHCP as the box, and retry with dreamup.

I had this exact problem just last week.

Look at how I solved it here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...50/index8.html
