You need to read the RED stickies in the cable and sat section which explain how to flash your box etc. What channels are you expecting to watch?

Hi mate

That question in your post is hundreds of questions in one, and your not going to get much response.
So to All the first timers to satelite, you need to read the sticky thread by Jackpot titled (cable tv to satelite explained).

There are a few options you can take, depending on how much you want to spend.

So use google and search through all the different forums to gain a good allround knowledge of sat recievers and setup, and the fitting of dishes fixed or motorised.

Just be aware that if you dont have a clue what you are doing you may choose to forget it, but if you are determined you need to search a lot, read a lot and print alot.

Then come back and ask some more specific questions.
