before you reflashed did you perform a flash erase (a flash erase erases the corrupt image ) a flash erase should be done anytime a dm500 is being reflashed .a box such as a dm7020 when reflashed will simply overwrite the old image but a dm500 will not it needs a flash erase .use a null modem cable and perform a flash erase before flashing the box again and i recommend using an older version dreamup for flashing a dm500 such as dreamup 1.3.2.1
no signal

No success too. What then is the problem ? Can someone advise me if this box is dead ?
I am still trying to know what happens when a box goes dead. Does the green light go off. ?
Would there be any connections to the box.. YES or NO
Please be of some help to me as this is very frustrating.Comment

Have you tried null modem cable with ethernet lead together??
Perform flash ersae first and only takes a few minutes.
With just null cable takes ages and more of a chance of a bad flash.
I had similar problem and also found different version of Dreamup helped.

Only use a null modem cable. Get another image and use a different version of dreamup if your getting errors.
Null modem is the safest way to flash a dreambox and you can always recover it with a null modem as if it crashes during flashing with ethernet it will no be recoverable as there is no IP address to connect to.sigpic

your sure u have null cable and not a RS232 cable ?
l had one years back and the null didnt want to know .. l installed network magic and it found the ip of the box and installed that in dreamup with the null connected and bingo updated over the internet cable not null cableLast edited by smirnoff_rules; 1 September, 2010, 19:38.any information provided is for educational/experimental purposes only.Comment
