think ive bricked my dm500s

i read the tutorial on flashing my dm500 with the pli image for dm500. once i connected using the flashfxp software i dragged the image file over to the relevent folder var/keys as it stated now my box wont start. where did i go wrong? have i bricked it or can this be fixed. all i get is the green led but nothing shows.

you need to reflash your box using dreamup software. you will need a null modem cable to connect box and pc. there is plenty of information in the red stickies in dreambox section

Dream up is the safest method of flashing a dm500, all other options are fraught with danger , it's easy sorted m8 do as andy suggested above.

i think thats where you have gone wrong, is it not the tmp folder you need to send the image to,,, and as said dream up should save it

when flashing my dm500s i always flash erase.img first..just to make sure its deleted the last image then flash again with your new image..
i use pli jade as well m8..works and seems to be quite stable

managed to get the pli image installed using the flashfxp software as i dont have null modem cable, im sure its rs232. anyways all is up and running again.

A null modem cable is an RS-232 serial cable where the transmit and receive lines are crosslinked... A standard RS-232 will not work..

is there a link or thread that tells you which free to air channels i can get throughout europe etc. also when i done a scan on astra 28.2 should i be picking up the scrambled sky channels cos i was hoping to receive the freesat ones. i was looking at wiki but i dont get any of the normal channels ie bbc1, channel 4, five etc...

On 28.2 you should get all the FTA channels. All the basic channels. Have a look here ---> http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html

sorry i meant to say in my post....do i need a sly card for me to get freesat channels. i have a freesat tv but for some reason it doesnt pick up astra 2 even though im getting it through my dm500

no you dont need a sky card for freesat as that is the whole idea of it.check in the tv instuctions on how to set it up.how is the the tv connected to the dish?
