astra 28.2e

hi everybody,

im new to the dreambox world, and seem to be having a run of badluck, first off i bought a DM500s and it wasnt preflashed with gemini like the ones my friends bought. after spending 3-4 days attempting to flash it, i gave up.
so then i bought another from DVBseller, on recommendation of my friends who got theres from them. yesterday my box arrived, as i excitedly set my box up and switched it on......... its all in chinese, after a few hrs research and watching many videos i have managed to change language to english.

after my many weeks of trying to sort all this i have found myself on this site a lot. so i thought i'd introduce myself and ask a question.

the problem i have is the box thinks he's in asia, and is only giving me an option to scan 138.0eAPStar-5 KU. no where in the menu's can i seem to be able to get 28.2e astra.

does anyone know if its possible to "westernise" this box so its giving options to search euro sats?

any help would be much appreciated, im starting to feel frustrated as obstacles i didnt know existed keep getting in my way.

it will only be set to that as default sat, there will be a drop down tab just select that and find 28.2 astra

goto _http://satellites-xml.eu/

select which sats you want and download .. then upload the satellite.xml file to your box via ftp and put the file in /var/etc

Go to set up - service searching - sat config - as wilf said you will see a drop down tab, click on this and select 28.2e, save and exit - auto scan and happy days.

many thanks for ur reply i tried this method and when i got to the drop down panel all i got was a single box which contained an asian satellite /138.0 eapstar-5ku this came already stored in the box , now my problem is that i cant seem to find a way in the menus that shows me how to select my required satellite/astra 28.2e cause this is where im stuck ,will i need to download said software for this problem .thankyou

thankyou wilf you mentioned this sat /138.0 eapstar-5ku i have already stored in my box is a default sat ,do you have any idea how i can enter into default mode so i can sort this problem or is it a matter of download only through pc , i really appreciate your help and time as im at the point of despair ,having spent so much time trying to sort this headache out once again thanks

Sidney go to " satellites .xml generator and select 28.2e and d/l and then do as Ezop says, I updated mine yesterday and only selected 28.2e and lost the rest of mine, but thats ok cause I have static setup. But that should work for you.

why not just grab a dm800 image from the downloads section here on forums and flash it. It will already be setup for sky UK ..so nothing else fo you to do.
