dm500 IP settings / netopia router

Having trouble setting up dm500 to serve my friend using my netopia router. I have opened the port on the router but not sure if I have set the dm500 IP settings correctly. I get all lights green when I run test. I have used the first two digits of my port in xx below, unticked DHCP and entered port number in port box. My dydns account seems to be working fine.
    Any ideas.
    All advise appreciated.
    Philly.

    IP 192.168.1.xx
    Subnet 255.255.255.0
    gateway 192.168.1.254
    Name server 192.168.1.254

Try the gateway and the nameserver with all the same ip address.

      Hi Andy,
      Thanks for your reply.
As you can see both name server and gateway are set to
192.168.1.254 which is the default for netopia. Do I need thochange this. Brain dead when it comes to computers.

Sorry mate its me whose brain dead i didnt realise they were the same.
On my Dream ive used Vermins 2 nameservers and they have worked for me also but normally the gateway(router ip) should be the same as the nameserver.

          Sound.
I have both these set the same and are netopia's default IP.
Maybe I can rule this out . Do you know about the IP setting on the dreambox server when DHCP is un-ticked. Mine is 192.168.1.and the first two digits of my port number. A mate advised me on this so I am just following instructions here. Am using DYNDS account.

            hi,

you need to portforward a port on your netopia router to the ip address you have given to your box. and sync your dyndns account with your dynamic dns address. Eixcom dont use static dns address. Best using inadyn on your box to do this as the netopia updates too often and your account will be terminated.

i cant really go into the rest here but pm me and i will help you out

on that router dont forget to set your firewall to LOW, then reboot

                Thanks Dreamal,
I will pm you as I have carried out the port forwarding to the DB IP address.
Not 100% up to speed with IP's etc. Too long (30 yrs) on bench repairs and RF.
