Help needed to unbrick my 500S?

Have just received a 500-S that the previous owner has nobbled by loading a duff image and my first attempt to reflash failed as I could not get Dreamup (v1.3.3.2) to recognise that it was connected!

I am running Dreamup on an ancient laptop, which is Windows 98 (don't laugh!) - is this a problem?

The cable is one I've used for years to connect to Humax - pretty sure it is right one. How can I check?

Well, just tried 11 different versions of DreamUP and I couldn't get any of them to connect to the 500-S!

I am wondering if it might be the cable, so, I'll try to get hold of another.

If anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to hear from you.

Dreamup 1.3.3.4 works great for me with ethernet and null modem together, flashes alot quicker but try it on a desktop pc if you can.

                    Andy.
