    dm500s clone help needed

    hi

    i am having trouble with my dm500s, while trying to flash it scrashed, now when i try to reflash with dream up it says upload completed awiting aknowledge. i have tried several different dreamup files but same thing, does anyone know how to get round this.
    i have also tried ethernet and crossover cable but cannot find the boxes ip address through ipconfig.

    help please

    Hi Paul, I've seen this a few times with USB serial ports or wrong serial cable (must be a null modem cable). Check you have a null modem cable and use a machine with a built in serial port if possible. Also, use Dreamup 1.2.2.0 - hope this helps.

      you need a null modem cable and a serial to usb converter if youdont have a serial port on pc ( I wonder if they still exist on new Pc's)

        thanks gordon,

        i have a null modem, i can get dreamup to upload, but then it says awaiting acknowledge and freezes, is there any other way to flash a dreambox.

        ps: i cannot get the ip address from the box as it will not boot up.

        please help

          have you tried flashing an erase image..??

          you need to make sure that the only leads that are going into your box when flashing are the Null Modem cable and mains power lead, make sure all LNB inputs, SCART, audio leads and Ethernet cables are unplugged

            thanks for the replies, i have not tried an erase flash file, as i am unable to find this on the forum can you point me in the right direction.

              what image are you trying to flash? is it one for a dm500?

                On Dreamup on the Dm500 you normally get an option to do a flash erase first,i most tend to use Dreamup 1.3.3.4.
                Try a fresh downloaded image the other might be corrupt.
