I have a problem with my dreambox, I keep getting freezes when watching non FTA channels (it is not servers issues) when I ping my dreambox I get several packets dropped and keep getting ftp component not ready when using dream box control center to connect to the receiver. I removed the home plugs and connected the dreambox dirtectly to the router but this didn't make a difference. I think it is the network port on the receiver. Do i need to change the whole motherboard ? Any idea or advice is apperciated.

Flashed it twice, no joy.
It is not the share because it happens on when trying to watch any channel and I am connected to 5 servers so logically can't be server issue, what made me almost ceratin it is network card is when I ping the receiver on average 4 out of 10 packets are dropped (don't get a reply from the box)

try pinging another device on your network or on the www

it may be your router

try a reflash after an erase image

failing that a new mainboard will cost you about ?40.. you could get a new box for ?10 more

I will try to flash it again, I have been using darkstar2 image but now want to try Pli images, which pli imgae should I use? A link will be usefull. I looked at pli web site but there are so many E1 images to choose so want not sure whihc one to use.

Two suggestions

1) For sure the 7020 Dreambox had this issue and there is a fix. I don't know if the 500 suffers in the same way or not.

2) Set the port to half duplex and fix the speed to 10 meg instead of the default 100, turn auto negotiation off.

Pli jade dont work on clones sometimes. I am using eagleV4 on my eagle box works fine but still looking for K**s to open encrypted channels.

How do you do this on the receiver? There are limited options in the communications setup on the box

You can only do this over a telnet session using Linux utilities. ethtool or mii-tool
