Is it possible to backup the rotor settings only ?
Now, after uploading new firmware images or changes in the satellite configuration menu, all the satellite positions needs to be entered again manually.

How to solve this problem ?

I would imagine they are saved to a file/folder in box and that file/folder could be backed to pc using ftp. sure someone will be able to tell you where the file is stored

          What about the rotor ?
Does anyone know if the (SG-2100 DiSEqC) rotor have it's own memory to store the satellite positions ?

          Some satellite positions are predefined:
          Pos 1 = Hotbird 13.0E
          Pos 2 = Astra 19.2E
          Pos 3 = Eutelsat 16.0E
          etc.

I assume these positions are stored inside the rotor.
Correct me if I am wrong.

telnet is best for backing the 500
log in via telnet .ie box ip then root /dreambox then.

            cat /dev/mtd/3 > /tmp/backup.img

this will put a backed up copy of image in temp folder
to save to pc via ftp

I believe the rotor settings are stored in the config file in /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/

This is the main config for the image and different images could have different settings in there, so it may not be easily possible to save the settings when changing images unless you do some copy & pasting.
