You got the right ports open on your router..???

You have a clone 500s mate.. If you want to use all the best features you should have looked at getting a higher end spec genuine box

what format are the files you want to play..??

If they aren't MPEG's then you need to click transcode

cheers for that mate not had a chance to have a look at it as im just about to head out but once i get back in tonight i will have a look at it and post how i get on.

been at it all day again with still no joy, its odd i can select the movie on my dreambox from my pc and then the buffering window will open on the dreambox but wont load. frustrating to say the least .

tried that now as well and still not working getting this error:

                    File reading failed:
VLC could not open the file "C:\DOCUME~1\ADAMMC~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\the social network 2010 divx.mp4".
                    Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///C:/DOCUME~1/ADAMMC~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/the%20social%20network%202010%20divx.mp4'. Check the log for details.

Pli Jade2 Enigma1 only works with streaming Pi Jade3 does not work, does not seem to get past buffering stage with Pli jade3.

I am not sure how the epg works on the pli jade 2 there might be a problem with it. I know there is an openpli image for the dm500 i think works with clones as well could be worth a try. When I had a dm500 running the pli jade 2 streaming avi files to tv worked well. vlc 8.6i works with pli jade2 image for streaming.

I use a network mount and the filemode option to play avi's,but I convert them first to mpeg2 (ts) using winavi

I had the same problem until i followed this post from hemispherical1:

                              in VLC try:

                              Tools
                              Preferences
                              ALL / Advanced Settings
                              Stream Output

In "Default Stream Output Chain" add something like:

                              #transcode{vcodec=mp2v,vb=2048,width=640,height=48 0,fps=25,soverlay,acodec=mpga,ab=192,channels=2,sc odec=dvbs,audio-sync}:standard{access=http,mux=ts,dst=:9090/dboxstream}
In my case had to chose width=354,height=384 so the video fits my screen.
