    Dreambox DM 500-S/C/T set up

    Hello guys,

I have recently acquired a dreambox and already possessing a dish have attempted to link a modem and the two together.

For a while we had pretty much perfect quality across the whole sky package -

but over the last 3/4 days the signal has got worse and worse.

not knowing anything about this at all I am pretty stuck.

I have read that the aerial cable from dish to box shouldn't be too long? or too coiled? but it has worked fine at its current length.

I also read that it shouldn't run near to power packs - again I've tried it near and far from a power pack and can't find a pattern.

The satellite we appear to be picking up is Eurobird1/Astra2a/2b/2d (28.2e)

I have absolutely no idea what any of this means.

Any help to boost the signal and get it working right would be greatly greatly appreciated

Have the recent winds affected your dish ? If you think they have , try adjusting your long settings by .2 up and down. ie. Long 2.5, down to 2.3 etc and then up again 2.5 , to 2.7 etc

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Mmmm. Thanks for the advice - it is a sky dish & not motorized -

would the wind still be able to affect it? And if so how could one go about rectifying it.

      Really really puzzling -

How it could go from working fine to being so 'bitty' -

the FTA channels are usually fine but occasionally will cut out as well - (i think its linked to the aerial cable. . )

some low budget asian / faith channels / seem to work 100% of the time without any trouble which puzzles me.

SNR is usually fine, although it naturally does vary between the channels. It remains relatively high even when screen cuts out. BER goes ridiculously high when there is no reception.

I am paying for a service although it is not in the UK. I connect to it via modem.

I would check this out with your server, its probably him who has the problem if your getting good quality channels which are fta.

Ah okay. Thankyou, I shall follow that up.

Just for my own knowledge though - could the length / position of aerial cable (dish to dreambox) affect the reception?

I wouldnt think so unless its miles away and even then i cant see that being a problem.
Just check connections but i bet its the server who is the problem mate,

                Andy.
