    Trouble flashing 500s with dreamup

hi im trying to flash my dreambox 500s through dreamup as the pc crashed flashing it with fw pro and caused the box to die on me.

Right if i select port 5 that will let me connect to it but it only says uploading flash loader yet it is not doing anything.

in the log it says PM box type: DM500

then it wont go any further.

    help please.

    Hi try this way,
    1. use dreamup and connect box with com 1
    2. press connect
    3. switch of box
    4. swithon box
    5. box should start downloading.

Let me know how you got on.

are you using a USB to RS232 adapter..?? If so this will be your problem if you are running anything older than XP SP2

you should be able to select which ever COM is listed, for example mine shows as COM6

use this guide exactly, step by step, do not deviate from it..
if it still doesn't work you need to make sure you definitely have a Null Modem cable and not just a RS232

Think there's about 5/6 versions of dream up, you might aswell try the rest of them now m8. Pot luck.

could it maybe be the drivers on the the adaptor and do use guys know of any of any drivers that will work, tried out a couple other ones myself but really not having any luck with them.

so any suggestions would be great guys i've been trying this and trying that and going through thread to thread.

The adapters don't really work with Vista full stop.. You need a PC with XP or a even better one with a RS232 port

Took me ages to get mine going too, bought a usb to serial adapter off flea bay and a null modem cable, or so I thought. Ended up getting a Belkin adapter from my m8 and a "true" null modem cable from Maplins and it worked no problems, after a few versions of dream up too.
