dreambox 500s stuck on green light

a m8 of mine wrang me today with a problem,his dreambox 500s is stuck on green light,will not respond to remote control at all
he is panicking a bit as he has three little kids and the prospect of no telly over xmas and three screamming kids and a moaning wife is worrying him a bit,is there a solution to this problem or does my m8 have to enrol into a monestary over festive season for peace and quite,[ive told him it could be monestary ]

Probably a reflash will fix this. The simplest way is with FlashWizard if you do not have either the null serial cable or serial connectors on your computer.
If you do have both of these use DreamUp.

yes that should do it although dreamup easier imo Digital Kaos - Downloads - dreamup 1.3.2.1 here

unplug it and re plug it up to ten times , its worked for me in the past.

Just make shore your friend has not pressed the radio button or you may have damaged the tuner because this boxes have a very delicate tuners.

Take the lid off it and replace the ribbon
It will have just come loose

i got it sorted,nice chap took out tsop chip and replaced with newly flashed chip working great now..cheers all

problem

my dreambox also facing this problem,it stuck at the start screen ==

Me also, just got a brand new black dm500, flashed new image and was working great. Updated the bouquets and rebooted and now it just shows the nabilo boot screen and reboots constantly. Tried to connect via dreamup and serial but no use it cannot see my box. I use a serial to usb adaptor but this has always connected to my dm800. Could the serial usb adaptor still be the problem even though it works for my dm800. Any help would be greatly apopreciated as its drivin me mad

It was the usb to serial adaptor causing the problem, I dug out my ancient little old pc with a serial port and it worked a treat and dream-box was found straight off. I was really prairie dogging for a while there, I knew that old pc would come in handy one day ;-)
