Hope that there is someone in this forum can give me a hint how to fix my dreambox.
I have two DM600s PVR.
Have had #1 for approx 1.5 year, #2 since six months.
Planned to let them share the same card but haven't had the time to set it up before.
#1 ran it with Peter Pan since start. Didn't have it network connected.
A while ago it started to behave strangly, lost channels.
Channels did not come back after a satellite search. Thought that a re-flash would help.
When trying I couldn't access it over the network interface.
Flashed PLi (Jade 3, June 2009) image to both my boxes with dreamup and null-modem cable.
#2 - no problem - worked fine.
#1 - after flash - could telnet to the box first but interface clogged after a short while.
Made a number of factory resets and flashed same image on it again. About the same behaviour,
network hangs. Operating the box from remote control - no problem works fine, responsive.
The behaviour is as follows after a flash.
- most times it obtains the IP address from router.
- telnet to dreambox and I can hit for instance ifconfig a few times before it stops to respond
- sometimes I can start a new telnet (stopped the first one) and it works for a short while before that one also hangs.
- ifconfig counters do not reviel anything strange.
- Web interface is no point - it doesn't receive data.
Flashed Peter Pan back on it - no difference. Tried the original DM image, no difference.
Since I have two similar I have switched between them forth and back to rule out any cabling or other network related issues.
(They do not have the same MAC - read replicas might have same MAC addresses).
A power down doesn't make any good.
When the network I/F is clogged I can not access the box for trouble shooting even if I knew what to look for.
I assume that a flash doesn't overwite all the memory in the box. If some date survives - can it be looked at (I can still hit a few commands after a flash)?
Since a flash makes the box accessible for a short time I assume that it is SW related rather then HW. Buffers or so.
(One final thing, I had a HD mounted in #1 for a while but moved it to #2 ? it works fine in that one.)
- Anyone out there having any hint what to do?
- what trouble shooting could I do when this happens?
