DM500s Newbie Setup

I have looked at various tutorials and have tried to follow them but still unable to view channels that i have paid for.

I have flashed my Dreambox DM500s with the Gemini_420_DM500_17122007.img image and have setup my network and can view my box via DCC.

I have started the box and selected the sat i want to view and have auto searched all the channels. I can see the list of channels and the Open air channels like BBC and E4 can be viewed. In the tutorial it states if you put you paid for viewing card in, you will be able to see the basic channels, but for me i can only see the Free to air channels still. I read on and it staes you may need to put your BoxKey into the Config.cfg file. I have opened the config.cfg file and edited the line:

FROM:
#BOXKEY: /dev/sci0 00 11 22 33

TO:
BOXKEY: /dev/sci0 AA BB CC DD

and then saved this and FTP it to the Dreambox. I then restarted the box, but still the same, and i only get the Free to Air channels still.

Can someone advise what i am doing wrong please?

you may have to start the cam from the menu on the dm 500

I have the dm500s dreambox. and few days ago, I was able to see plenty of channels, and that's becuase I was connecting one ethernet cable from the dreambox to my DSL router, plus the satellite antena to the dreambox.
Now I don?t have interenet at home, therefore I'm not able to watch any of those payed channel, (just some free), the channel are listed, but not able to see them. I would like to know if I can use the dreambox withouth internet connection? the card slot in the dreambox, are for anything?

without broadband the channels you had wont open ,you could use the card slot if you had your own card .
