cheers lads im certainly giving the dreambox some serious thought i did however notice that a null modem cable is required i assume to flash new firmware to the boxes as and when required bu i only own laptops and none of them have a serial port which i think is required to take a null modem cable would a usb to serial adapter work i have found these a bit hit and miss in the past

usb2serial works on lappy bud but as you say can sometimes be a bit pernickity but ive never had a prob when used and loads of other peeps use them

do you have a pcmcia slot on lappy

if so you can get a pcmcia serial card to connect null modem

just downloaded the set up guide mate and it has given me a lot more confidence that i would be able to set 1 of these up

i think im gonna have a go at the SAT side of things.
the practical stuff i wasnt worried about, installing dish etc.
but never tried due to all the tech stuff required , yr guide looks easy to follow and well produced for the novices like me.

you can flash via telnet mate, null modems only really needed if it goes tits up.

eagle box 1000s

Hi This is my first post and im very sorry for any mistakes i have already made and may make.

I have an eagle 1000s box which i can watch all sky tv channels on.

I would like to watch the same channels on another television upstairs.

I have a another LNB cable upstairs runnning from a 4lnb port from the sky dish.

How can i watch the same channels upstairs?

I have recently purchased a dreambox 500s brand new, can i use this somehow? , if so how do i connect it with my box downstairs. People say i can clone the exact details from downstairs box (eagle box ) and use dream box control centre to save ccam settings and all bouquets and stuff but i have no idea. Can any of the kind experts advise please. Thanks.

Wierd! Tried downloadind it twice before and came back with exceeded message so checked date and thought I just missed it but after reading your post tried again and its downloaded fine.
