Used Dreambox 500s

Hi Guys,

Can someone help me please, I bought a dreambox from a secondhand shop. The guy said it's already set up and all I need to do is connect it to broadband, anttena and it'll work. It does, usual free channels are coming up which is fine but the listings are all wrong. I don't know anything about the dreambox , so I've been reading threads on here how to set it up/change ect.

I cannot access the set up menu in the dreambox to connect it to my PC or anything else as it has a 'current set up pin' has four digits I went back to the shop and the guy what the pin is and he said he doesn't know as he bought if off someone else. I've tried all sorts and nothings working. I don't know what to do??? Can anyone help PLEASE.

think your best bet mate is to flash it with a new image as you cant connect via your router you will need to flash with a null cable and dream up software.

once flashed you will need to create bouquets (channel listings) this can be done on the box (it takes some time this way) or by using software called dreambox edit. you can also download bouquets from the download section here, i have uploaded sky uk bouquets. also there is a couple of guys on here that provide bouquets via there thread. downloading certain bouquets can also mean no need for channel scan.

if you flash it you'll loose the config.. you then wont be able to open any pay channels..

yeah but that can be added again. he is going to get nowere without knowing that pin :/

he also mentioned that hes fine with free channels.

also a good learning curve starting from scratch

thanks for the info guys, is there no other way to retrieve it without flashing it? I don't really want to lose the information as I really have no idea how to re-configure it and it's actually SHE, I'm a she, not a he

Nope. to have it working you must reflash it.
Dont worry, it seems daunting but its really quite easy.

You best bet will be to flash this box as the can't at present guess the pin. Also it a learning curve you will appreciate

Hi, I dont know what image you have but you can try this.

Go to Tuxbox Commander,
Go to /var/tuxbox/config/enigma.
Go to a file called config.
Press 3 to view.
Look for the lines.
i:/elitedvb/pins/parentallock=00000123
i:/elitedvb/pins/setuplock=00000123
These are hex numbers.
Open your Windows calculator in Scientific mode,
Click on Hex,enter the value minus the zeros in front of them,
Click on Dec and that's your pin number.

can you not try ftp to the box to grab the .cfg file then flash and put cfg back on?

hopefully the ftp user/pass are default!

sorry about the he. think flashings the only option for you or give what bugsy said a try.

as said its a good learning curve if you are going to be interested in changing images, if you want a epg, bouquets....

if you really dont want to get in to all that I have a Pli Jade 3 image here with channels scanned, up to date bouquets and mapped epg. PM me if you want it. but think about doing it yourself as it is rewarding.

I think not only Flashing the box will get ride of the pin and user configurations. If u set it back to factory default, u will lost everything too.

I bought my Dreambox from secondhand shop and its all nicely set for plug and play. The parental lock got a 4 digit pin and i dun know what it is, so i got curious, i wish to get ride of it, so last nite i set my dreambox back to factory default and after that all user setting are gone now and i cant watch anything!

Cccam 2.12 is gone, all satellites listing of the East is gone too. I dun know how to get them back. I tried to add satellites but all i see are all from the West. I dun see any satellites from the East for me to add, pls help.
