    dm500s clone flash problem

Hi, new to this and only got the box today but i've f**ked it up already
It had a gemini image on it (not sure which one) but i tried to put another image on it and i used flash wizard pro 4 to put:
    gemini 4.7 dm500 maxvar CCcam 2.1.4
image on it and now it trys to start but freezes at the 1st screen with lots of tv station icons on it. I've tried to connect using dreamup with null modem and rj45 but getting nothing. I took the top off and the rs232 only has 3 wires, i thought there would be more. I'm guessing this is a really crap clone but if i can get it going again then i'd be

Not sure what info you guys would need but if you need more info then ask

    Cheers RD

Null modem cable is your only man to connect your dm500 to your puter, if it's a lappy, you'll need null modem to usb adapter. Try reflash, but flash erase first when you get connection. Also try different versions of dream up.

I'm using a laptop but it has a proper com1 port, used it to flash dbox's no problem so i know the com1 works and the null modem is the proper cable but it just wont connect. Do i need to set baud rate etc for com1 or is normally ok as is? Which is the best version of dreamup to try?
      Thanks for quick reply RD

      edit:
I've tried dreamup 1321, 1334, 1335 and 1336 but none of them connect

I`ve had a clone with a dodgy rs232 connection, when you say it has 3 wires do you mean only 3 of the 9 on the ribbon cable are connected?

my working ones have all 9 soldered to the rs232 connecter, i have another where 2 of the wires have come unsoldered.

I take it with Dreamup you have the power disconnected first , then click connect ,then plug the power in.

No mate, i mean there are only 3 wires onto a 3 pin header on the main board. Gimme 10 mins and i'll get a pic.

          Cheers RD

All mine have a ribbon cable (the same as the one in your pic that connects the power button )

on my motherboard is a 10 pin connector that connects to the ribbon cable and all 9 wires are soldered to the rs232 connector , i`m no expert but not seen that type before but i have only bought from 2 different people (tony & mydalle.com)

Yeah thats what i was expecting when i took the top off, i cant see how i'm gonna connect to this box again.

Is it possible to fully flash it with a jtag or is that just for the loader?

I wouldn't do that just yet. I bought a null modem cable off flea bay and it didn't work, turns out it was a straight through cable, ended up buying one from maplins and of course it worked. You 100% sure it's a null ?. Also 2 more versions of dreamup to try first. It is annoying, but you have to rule them out first.

Yes mate its definately a null, i used to use it to flash my dbox2.
I've tried another pc today and still same problem. I dont understand why there are only 3 wires on the com port, i would of thought it needed more than that to work.

there are others who had the same problem with gemini 4.7 and clones.

I don`t know anything about jtag , could you just send it back ?
