help setting up dreambox 500 with VM superhub

hi guys hopefully you can help me

i had my dreambox up and running great then 2 days ago i switched from sly broadband to vergin media 50meg superhub

the superhub is a modem and router in 1

so my dreambox went off as expected as soon as the sly bb went off, but i cant seem to get my dreambox connecting to the net now

heres the details i have so far

ip of router inside super hub: 192.168.0.1
    ip of modem inside superhub:192.168.100.1
ip of pc connected to superhub (working fine) 192.168.0.3
ip i set the dm to : 192.168.0.11
    nameserver i set to: 192.168.0.1
    gateway i set to : 192.168.0.1
netmask was the same so its 255.255.255.0

but when i try to go to addons via blue button i get : cannot resolve hostname! (url http://download.blue-panel etc etc

    any ideas

Cant you just set the dhcp on in the dreambox and reboot it then it will find it's own ip.

how do i change the settings to turn it just into a modem, i could handle that

i tried to use the dhcp but it still wont work, it changes everything netmask goes to 255.0.0.0, and the ip adress goes to 10,0,0,24

when i put my settings in it(which i think is right) i can see the dreambox on dcc and it says there is a network, but still cant access the addons bit

oh damn it, thought it would be good with having 50 meg, problem is i dont have another router that i could use, i was on asdl with sky and we have 2 laptops that we use wireless

would it be possible to hook up the dreambox to a pc via a crossover cable and get it working that way? or would the super hub block it?

failing that its either getting a full sub from virgin with another box (really dont want to do that) or running a eithernet cable to my neighbours router and using that ggrrr

Your nameserver is wrong m8 it should be 194.168.4.100 or 194.168.8.100. Change those and you should be fine .

My colleague at work has got a superhub and says its great, I would love to get one but everytime I try and get one off virmin they just turn me down. If you still have your old modem and hub then its worth re-connecting it back up again to make sure everything works. If it all worked then I would swap over to the superhub and see what happens. I have never seen an option in hub to configure a nameserver in a router but I have seen this option in a dreambox and in this case I always configure as 194.168.4.100 & 194.168.8.100

Generally, its acceptable for the nameserver to point to your local router, which can then check any local network resolvers before passing the request to the next nameserver up the chain (the internet). During booting, the modem will normally be given the ip of the next higher nameserver by your provider configuration.

You can, of course bypass a lot of this by setting default nameservers in either windows or linux OS's which effectively then sends all your dns requests to your named dns server. Using the google or OpenDNS servers can make surfing far smoother than using the VM default nameservers, which seem extremely slow to update (it often takes 24-48 hours for VM to pick up IP allocation changes).
