PC to Dreambox?

Hey,

I've been looking around everywhere but I can't seem to find anything which can play movies from my PC to my dreambox. I found "PlayDreambox", but that doesn't seem to work. Would anyone know how to stream via PC to dreambox (without conflicting with channels etc).

Help would be appreciated, as usual rep and thanks will be given.

have you got the vlc plug in under the green button ? If not, download it and you can stream to the box using that. If not download it here Digital Kaos - Downloads - VLC Plug in for Dream Elite

I have installed already, configured settings but the little butterfly (that blue thing on the top left) thing keeps flashing and it just gets stuck. :S

My PC is running Windows 7, latest VLC player.

It's probably your firewall stopping it. Allow access for vlc and make sure you add interface\web interface

Thanks for the reply mate. How do I go allowing the firewall to accept VLC? Also, when you say web interface / add interface - Do you mean the 192.168.0.2 web interface? - That works well.

I'm using vlc 0.86 as the newer versions wont work for me. On PC Open vlc go to settings\add interface\web interface\
On Remote green button choose Vlc and it should open up ok, if not disable firewall, but it should work if you use older version of vlc and folow these steps Let us know how you get on

I downgraded VLC to 0.8.1, I went to settings, add interface, web interface and nothing happens - Is it meant to be like that? Also, for the VLC settings on my dreambox, anything required apart from IP etc?

No m8 nothing visual will happen when you add interface. When you go to remote control and click on vlc you should see contents of you pc

I don't understand how it will, I set the "VLC-Server profile" and the blue butterfly keeps flashing, it gets stuck there.

Did you disable your firewall ?

Yes, I disabled the firewall. Wouldn't I have to do anything on my PC? To allow the box to stream stuff from it?

EDIT: Now, I am receiving an error message on dreambox, "Error loading playlist into server Server 1: HTTP error 404: not found", "Error loading filelist into server Server 1: HTTP error 404: not found",

No, once you open vlc on your box it shows the content of your pc ( providing you have put the correct ip in, which is that of your pc ) and you go to the file you want to play. I use this quite a lot so it deffo works. Try using Vlc 0.86 thats the version i use.
