buying a DM800 HD help and guide

Hi guys Im thinking of getting a Dreambox DM800 HD but I need help and some advice before buying one. First of all, wheres the best place I can get those from, do I need to buy any smartcard with it, I have also got a sky dish outside my house is that ok, how much would you rate this box and is it easy to flash? If theres anything else I need please let me know, thank you very much I would really appreciated

Hi am new to it myself but the rule of thumb I leant was buy a pro with a m turner, I also got a usb fan to keep it cool. Your dish will be fine as long as u want to watch astra but a smart card is your choice depending on what u looking to do with the box if u get my drift. Flashing is easy just read the posts regarding it and its easy if u are Linux/ pc savvy

thanks for replying back to me skydive, i heard that u have to pay every year for a card thing didnt understand it, do i need a card mate if i dont have it will i get all the channels including every hd channels? plus whats an astra? thanks

hi id say dont rush in to things , there a lot to know about this side, also iv had some bad reports for some sellers in china, so id say paymore and get your box from a known uk seller thats got good feedback !

You'll only get the FTA channels, for other channels you'll need to so some googling and reading

whats your budget, do you wanna watch one channel while recording another,500s-cheap and cheerful, 500hd-expensive,800hd- reasonable,Vu+duo-pricey, deffo buy from Uk, lot of disgruntled customers of late who bought from China,you also need to google c/s, not allowed to talk about it on the forum.

Lot of ppl talking bout UK dreamshop, take a look at their site and check the prices of the boxes, they seem to be good with after sales. A lot go for the Dm 800hd with rev M tuner/sim 201, but if you got the money you could get the Vu+ ( twin tuner ), up to you really.

Avoiding the obvious quip about "an astra" being a car, its a satellite. Sky transmits from the Astra satellites positioned at 28.2"east of the meridian. It's what your Sly minidish will be pointing at. There are many more up there. Sly Germany transmits Astra at 19.2"e, Sly Italia 13"e Hotbird. You could ask what is a Hotbird. Well named as all the adult content on there!!

There are more up there with plenty to see.
