If ya ask any of the lads on here, most will say the glitching is down to the tuner, and ppl install an in-line amp to sort it, but with the new rev M tuner, it's said to av done away with the need for an amp. If your looking for more sats than astra 28.2e, then you need to look at another dish size, there is another reason for glitching but we can't talk about it in the forum. In short if you get the dm800hd with rev M tuner/sim 201, just hook it up to your existing sly dish and put the relevant software / files into your box, your good to go.

You need serial cables, also known as modem serial cable.

yep , andy is correct , you wont need any additional cables , provided your dm800 is on your network , image flashing is configured thru a web browser

Intresting reading, i am in the same position as the O.P and just starting on this journey, i know what i want but still confused about the cards to use, so can somebody clear it up for me and the O.P, if i purchase a DB, do i need a card with this or is it the software only that is needed, if i need a card which one?

i know there is a lot of stuff on here about it all and elsewhere but there is a lot of conflicting stuff aswell.

                  cheers

cheers Benny, going for a motorised dish usals as i have big f*ck off trees at the back where i live and the dish will have to be right at the top of the chimney, dont wanna be going up and down there to often so usals will be best, aslo purchase a DB from a well know dealer, i probably need to get all this sorted before i go down the c/s route, lots of reading to do i guess.
                      cheers

Just be careful with a motorised dish on your chimney. I've heard reports of dishes coming down in high winds and taking the whole chimney with them. Depending on how high you need the dish, your best bet might be to install T & K brackets below the guttering with a scaffold pole rising above the guttering, but if you need it as high as the chimney, I'd use T&K's anyway.

Thanks for the advice, there is already a sky dish up there but probably better of with a larger diamater dish.
