Is The 8000HD worth the price tag?

Is the 8000HD original worth the price tag?

If so what can it do than any other Enigma 2 receiver cant do?

Is there any special features to it?

    Are the images more advanced?

I know it is a twin tuner and you can add a dvd drive but does this really make it worth its price tag? as there are other twin tuner options out there and lets face it DVD players dont come expensive?

Can you record to DVD if you add a DVD writer?

Can you add a blue ray drive?

its a good box dont get me wrong but they honestly cant justify the price yeah you add bits too it but if u have a pc why do u need o????

a vu duo is sensibly price for a high range receiver and have been told that the vu ultima will still come in @ a lower price than the dm8000

DM8000 is quad tuner capable. But like most original Dream products not worth the excessive price tag.
But what you have to consider is, that what makes Dream market leaders in the Linux reciever market is not the hardware,.,it;s the fact that their software and images are the best.
This is because they pay devleopment teams to create the software and images in the first place, even Enigma 1 and Enigma 2 are primarily developed by Dream.
Why do you think nearly all other competitiors VU, ClarkTech etc..always use the same or similar chipset and CPU as Dream recievers ?? So they can save money and modify existing Dreambx images instead of paying to develop their own from scratch...
Hence with Dreamboxes the price you pay is more for the software support and development rather than hardware.

But a clone DM8000HD can be had for 370 quid delivered from China...very good value indeed....

I think 370 is a big risk on a clone receiver to be honest mate theres not going to be any warranty. Also why order from China on the clone receiver I have seen the clones been sold at that price here.

My 2x 500s and 800HD are clones but they didnt cost around ?370 . and in all fairness to them they have never caused me any trouble.

Thanks for the reply was a excellent reply.

Dee27 is it the original you have and if you have a 8000HD what can it do that other Enigma 2 receivers at a lower cost cant do?

I rather spend my money on a Vu+ Duo or an ET9000, unless for some bizarre reason I had a need for 4 tuners.

See i cant find any reason why a 4 way tuner would be needed.

I like the look of the vu+ ultimo and think that will be my choice as it looks good and also rarely i could see me using the 3 tuner.
