    Hi all,

Got my dm800 HD clone. Preloaded with Gemini 5.1
    M Tuner
    Sim 2.01
    BL 76

    CCam is 2.1.4

I figured with all that it might be good to go out of the box and probably is but i'm obviously doing something wrong.

I navigated my way to scanning for channels and it finds hundreds with EPG and all. If i select a channel i get the program info at the bottom and then just a blank screen. No audio either.

I'm not sure i've got my tuner configured properly either.
My dish is fixed position with a single LNB running 2 cables to different points in the house. It's an Austar installation.

I'm using the DVI and optical audio. I haven't tried anything on the computer yet as i don't have a serial port but my old PC in the spare room does so when i need to flash i'll probably just take it in there. I've downloaded the patched version of Dreamup.

I consider myself a quick learner but my head is swimming with all the new info and countless possibilities. Is there a beginners guide somewhere. I've searched so many forums but every thread i read relates to specific problems and i can't find a step by step tutorial for the complete novice.

What do i do first? Does it need to be freshly flashed? Do i have to write a line in CCam or something? How do i get it working. Please just a nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

No worries mate. It's cool i understand. It all takes shape after a few days and i'm sorting it out. I was scanning the wrong region for a start so have to send the correct .xml to the box. I think i"ll manage now with the various tutorials and posts. Thanks.

If your getting them the thing we are not allowed to talk about is the easy bit and you will be fine.
Try and be patient and people will help you.

Thanks Andy, I gather there's a sort of initiation by learning. I told my mate it's a bit like learning to drive a car if you'd never seen or heard of a car before, only much harder.
My hold up now is getting a null modem cable. i have heaps of old serial cables and thought they would do but even if they would they are male female and i need female female. And do you think anybody in the shops here knows wtf one is. So it was Ebay but now just have to wait. In the mean time i'll be reading up. Thanks to forums like this i know i'll get it happening.
