    Problems with my Dreambox

Recently my Dad has bought a Dreambox DM 800, which I believe is a clone. When plugging it in and setting everything up I pressed the power button but however I didn't get a response, I tried re plugging it back, but no luck. So I left it off for a couple of hours returning to it it managed to turn on while turning on it went through some booting process loading all the files, I told my Dad he said bring it in the living room so I un plugged it and brought it to the living room to set it up once again but when I pressed the power button again no response by no response its just stuck on the logo and the light just stays red. I think the solution to this is to re flash it but before doing so I would want to hear your guys view on this. Thanks.

You may need to reflash. Have a few more boot attempts and turn the box off at the mains for about 3 mins inbetween.

Isit possible to reflash it with a ethernet cable I know you should use a null modem cable for this task but I dont have one and I want to try it out.

Try connecting to your network and....

You can try but not sure if it will work - pull out the power cable from the dreambox and attach the ethernet cable from your router to the dreambox. Plug the power back in and the dreambox should be allocated an IP address and this should be shown in the dreambox panel. If you do get the IP address, type this into your browser and see if you can connect to the box (user name: root, password: dreambox). You should then get an option to flash the box from there.

I only ever flash using your normal Internet browser and network cable. Unplug the power from the dm800. Hold the standby button in on the box and the plug in your power lead , keep holding the standby button and take note of the ip address on the dm screen , keep holding the button until you see stop. In your browser type the address of the dm box. A screen will appear click on upgrade firmware and the navigate to your image. Click flash and wait for a few minutes until done. Then reboot your box. Job done
