Sticking a DVB-T stick into a Dreambox 800HD?

Hello,

I am seriously thinking of getting a DM800HD - it seems to do everything I want. (Satellite, media player).

But I am in Ireland, and there are also the few terrestrial channels here - unavailable on free satellite, but available on DVB-T on MPEG4 (Saorview).

I don't want to fork out the premium money for a dual tuner box like AZbox. But, what if I take a Linux-supported USB DVB-T stick, and connect it to the Dreambox? Would THAT work?

Or are there any other *cost effective* solutions? If not, I can of course use the USB stick with the PC - the TV streams are not HD so the PC can play them easily.

Get a cheap dvb-t usb tuner.

Have this working on two dm800hd, one running dreamelite phoenix image and one running edg nemesis 2.1 image, both working perfect.

Just bought one to, thanks! I'm still thinking whether to get the DM800HD, but if not, then it will probably work with the Linux station that I use to view satellite and video at present (it does not have enough power for HD h264).

I have just bought one too with extra cable which convert to antenna cable. Works perfectly Thanks for the advice.

hi guys anyone know how this dvb-t stick works ??? downloaded the drives using the blue botton add dvb-t stick to the usb did a reboot go to tuner config and i can see the dvb-t stick but when i scan from channels iam getting nothing ???, i know the dvb-t stick is working as i tryed it on pc ???

Sounds like a signal issue, is the led light on ?
Are you using a roof top aerial or are you using the little aerial that can with it, if so put the aerial onto something metal ie radiator and see will that give ye a signal.
Had the same prob. worked on laptop, put into dm800 nothing, ended up hooking it up to the attic aerial and it works perfect.

ok guys has anyone else got this usb DVB-T stick to work on the dream800?? i got me this one Digital TV HDTV DVB-T USB Stick Dongle Tuner Recorder Receiver - BuyinCoins.com and can not got it to work at all every time it scans it finds nothing tryed the top usb port and the lower port did the reboot and all that and still nothing, so if you guys that have it working can tell me what why your settings are it would be much appreciated
