Hard drive

I purchased a seagate 500gb 2.5 internal hard drive, I've already got an external caddy for a previous drive, when I put the seagate in the caddy and plug it into my computer, the drive doesn't show up.

I want to put the hard drive in my dm800hd, do I need to format the drive before or can i directly put it into my dm800hd?

The dm800 will format it for you. Connect it the browse to the harddrive menu and select 'initialise'. To access it on your pc, you need to format it from 'disk management'.

Thanks for your reply, I managed to do it. You can't put a brand new internal hard drive straight away, it has to be in NTFS format first or FAT32, I formatted it to NTFS on my computer then put it in the dreambox and it works fine.
