    Dreambox 800 clone hard drive

    Hi All,

1st post so apologies in advance. I have a cloned Dreambox 800hd. I want to buy a hard drive for it, what do I need to buy (have no clue in this at all), I have heard that the Sata hard drives over heat as they are powered internally to the dreambox? Would a fan under the dreambox help with this?
I only want to buy a cheap unit really, would 500gb or 1TB be enough?
    Thanks in advance people.....

You need to get a 2.5" laptop SATA drive for the dm800hd, for that type of drive 1tb is the max size that you can get, unless things have progressed.

As to if 500gb or 1tb is big enough? it all depends what and how you intend to use it. I only have a 40gb drive in my dm800hd, spare drive when I upgraded the PS3 to a 500gb and for me 40gb is more than enough as I also have a media server which has stuff saved which I may want to watch.

You need 2.5 sata, it's best to install it internally, this means the box gets quite hot, a usb fan for notebook should help with this.

I've got a 500gb hard drive installed in mine and only used 1gb so far on recordings, so it should be enough.

                  western digital

I put a 500 gb drive in a 800 HD Se with dream elite image and it is not even picked up by the box. Any ideas or is it that the dream is "picky" when it comes to drives that it likes ?? Thanks in advance,

Got 1TB external eSata hard drive on my 800HD se and when I follow the set up instructions and initialize, the hard drive light flashes and then I get a message saying "Unable to initialize harddrive. Error: Mount failed" It used to work fine and I can't fathom out what I've done wrong!! How do I mount the thing please? Thanks for all help/replies
