    Dm800 vs Dm 800 HD SE ???

    Hi guys,

Just wondering i am about to buy the DM800 Clone however realised that there is the new M tuner version but also a DM 800 HD SE, only difference i can notice is a 400mhz processor and hdmi to hdmi in the new dm800 hd se as opposed to dvi to hdmi.

    Are there any other differences?
Where do you recommend to get it from?
And which version would you advise?

these differencies are on the original models
but i guess clones models will the same features.
the 800se has a extra card slot and the tuner
does'nt have the loop out. like the800 tuner
the 500hd is also just one lnb in and no loop out
plus the differencies you have stated, plus both have 2 usb ports
if the 800se works as good as the 500 hd it will be a great box
but to be fair i got rid of a dm800hd original to get the 500hd
and i could'nt fault the 800 hd. plus the original model did'nt
have a fan so i never had the noisy fan problem lots report
    about the 800 clone

        hi m8,
i have never had a clone so i cant say which or
tell you much about them. lots say the clones are good
and on that basis i would go for the latest model the 800se
i have seen them in stock at satfooldeals.co.uk
for ?190 but i dont know if thats a good price for the
clone model. i know the original is ?429

I've being doing a bit of research for the past week or so on this also and I think the main issue will be that out of the 3 clones that you mention, the only one that is well establised is the DM800HD. Apparently the problem with clones is that when they initially come to market they often have a lot of bugs in them. YMMV in terms of the manufacturer you go with also.

So the DM500HD and 800HD se haven't really proven themselves in terms of reliability in the clone market yet. There may well be revisions etc as we saw 800HD. We're now on REV M of tuner in that case!

So, the risk is really yours, you could decide to guinea pig it on the unproven technology or you could go with the tried and tested 800HD which seems to be pretty solid at this stage. In terms of spec the 800HD se is definitely the best on paper but as of yet is unproven in terms of quality.

I hope this helps and best of luck!

If you do get an se be sure to post a review up here!

          Thanks,

          MP

If your goin for a clone get the DM800HD Pro sim 2.01 with latest bootloader #82 and the rev M tuner of course.
Plenty of images out thee and some here in the downloads section.
The SE clone is relatively new so i'd give it a while for things to develop more.

Thanks for the advice guys, probably a bad time to make a purchase, might be worth waiting a bit before getting down to buying the new dm.

Surely prices are also dropping, according to my research the new dm800se hd also carrys a rev m tuner, but coloured oled and faster processor so better epg...

If the Dm800SE clone turns out to be problem free, then it is by far the best choice.

                - It does NOT have a rev M tuner, the DM800SE no longer use ALPS tuners, theyre completely new Broadcom based tuners.

                - The 400mhz CPU means the media player is much better than the DM800HD it plays a lot of formats natively.

                - The SE has a large silent, tempreature controlled Fan.

                - The SE has 2 x USB 2.0 ports (DM500HD only has 1).

The current 800SE clones are backed by SIM2.01 tean and have a new SIM2.1. So their will be good software and image support from RamiMaher, MFaraj etc... These are not crappy Ferarro SIM products...Ferarri havent released a SE clone yet...

you must use the correct image for the dreambox model you have
be it a clone or a original model. they all use different images

When the price you pay is a fraction of what the officials cost.
