yeah, I just thought would the gender changer work, as I read about the usb adapter that there is a bit of messing around.

i just checked the device manager on my pc and it says COM1 - so i think all should work...im so p**d off because of this...tried lots of images and them I'ves used something called Merlin-2.Excalibur_OE-1.6-dm800-20110709 and i get the 'no ca error' now...it's a dm800hd pro...

does maplin have these changers ?

I would expect Maplins and many other computer type shops to have them
as an indication of price, Amazon have them for 99 pence with free delivery

are you sure its a com port?
most new machines dont have them, this is why everyone has bother with the usb to seriel drivers .

its definalty 9 pins? 5 pins one row, 4 pins 2nd row

ive just noticed its a 15 pin port :/

it shows up in my device manager as COM1.
ive only got 2 ports in there and the other one is LPT1.

i could be wrong m8, but i would suspect that is a vga port to use an external moniter with it,
do you have a vga lead lying around to see if it fits?
