i dont mind paying extra for it, I need it ASAP as I have no telly at home now :/ and my kids won't like it when they wake up in the morning

that will work fine, there is a link on the webpage for the driver download...


i dont know anything about repairing the boxes m8, hopefully someone else will help before you get your adaptor..

isn't the connection on the box a male
if it is you will need a female end on the usb adaptor

it is, but my cable is F to F, so one end goes to the box and the other goes to the adapter, and usb to the pc

box will be male and the adaptor will make his lappy male,
then connected by null modem cable which is female to female....

he will still need the null modem cable inbetween,
if he just joined the lappy to box then that would be a straight through connection

i was lucky that both of my work computers have the COM1 ports so dont need the adapter.

connected with the computer without any problems, got the IP and im flashing it again now. hopefully all will be ok

proberly the best way, these usb adapters can be a pain in the a**e to use...

all flashed now doesnt show the ca error now. cant check the screen as I dont have a telly here that I can connect to, but it was booting fine and shows 'channel 8' on the OSD so all should be ok happy that i've managed to save ?14 on the usb adapter thanks for your help again mate !
