I had the same problem with my hard drive, i had to format it on pc first before using it in dreambox.... i got hold of a copy of gparted and then formatted it using ext3. reinstalled inside my dreambox and all was well.

      Hard drive

Hi, have you tried to initialize your drive then reboot d/box that worked for me.One more thing I heard some d/boxes wont recognise hard drives bigger than 320 gb I don't know how true this is but its just a thought.

My pc is on the blink but my laptop ok,anyway if i format it on my laptop could i just buy an hard drive caddy and connect it to laptop and get a copy of gparted as you say or read somewhere else you could use paragon partition manager to format the disk ext3-not sure with all this computer jargon but am i on the right lines with this caddy that must be windows 7 compatible

Yes mate tried to initialize drive then boot but did not work, oh i hope your wrong about dreamboxes not recognising hard drives above 320 gb that would be a shame with me buying a 500 gb and some people on here have got a 640 gb drive working and maybe higher

if you got the right cables to connect hdd to pc go for it, caddy is only to protect the hdd, I presume once you format it, it's goin into the dm, have seen loads with bigger hdd and no probs, maybe some unlucky ppl had a bit of hardship tho

              Hard drive

I tried mine inside dreambox with no joy but as soon as I put it in a external sata caddy it worked and I have no idea why.

I removed the # from the line /dev/sda1 inside the etc/fstab then initialised HDD then mounted it and it worked on a problematic HDD.

the # is now back but it seemed to let me sort the problem.

I think it's hit and miss to be honest, some have no hassle, others do have hassle. Had a bit of hassle myself, tried everything, no joy, then just stuck it back in the dm and mounted it, and it was grand

Dont want to sound thick mate but do you mean you have your original internal hard drive now setup as a external hard drive and everything is working when you went back and mounted it or initialize your drive as you say,
