    Multiple Root Passwords?

    Hi Forum,

I have recently bought a DM500 at a shop. I now wanted to login into my box with the IP but I cant as the root password has been changed from "dreambox" to something else. I then followed some tutorials and managed to reset the Password but then noticed that the CS server stopped running (luckily i saw this through and made a backup ). I figured out that it used the root password to login. Is there a method that I can use to keep the root password given to me by the supplier and use my own at the same time?

    Best regards

There can only be one root account but you can set up as many user accounts as you desire with the priviledges required to do whatever job you need. Its actually preferable to set up specific accounts for specific jobs for various security reasons.

The underlying OS for a dreambox is linux so look up the appropriate linux commands to add users and set passwords and groups etc.
