    Set up

    Hi all,

I will apologise in advance for these questions as they are probably very basic.

I ahve spent hours researching on these forums but would like clarification as I ended up just getting more confused.

I have bought a DM800 which I am picking it up and need assistance on setting it up.

I have a sat dish pointed at 28.2E in place and need assistance with the following points:

I want an image that is user friendly and Sky-esque (sp?) with a 7 day epg.
Which image is regarded as the best for the above and do you have a direct link to download with instructions on how to actually get it onto the box.

I also require assistance with loading a C-line onto the box.

In future I would like to either install an internal hard drive or link to my NAS drive to enable PVR functions - any thoughts on which of these is best and instructions on how to carry them out?

    Thanks

Welcome to the forum, all the information you require may be found in our Sat Dreambox section, which you are now in.

Regards CS, (C:lines, etc), you will see that we only allow a certain level of talk, Google will be your friend in relation to such.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas Adams

There is many images out there that suit different people for different needs, there is none out there that will be the double of Sky if that is what you are after.

A very good image that is widely used, easy to use and looks very modern and will provide you with a 7 day EPG is the Dream Elite Pheonix Edition image (it can be found within the download section)

But you have not mentioned if it is a original or a clone receiver you own or what sim is in the receiver, also if its the new SE clone then the Pheonix image is not available for that.

You need to know the above first before adding a image to your receiver or you could damage your receiver with a CA Error.

So check what I have mentioned above and then come back and then we can point you in the right direction of a image, me personally I will not point you in a direction of any image without knowing they details as I wont be held responsible for mucking up your receiver.

great advice from garry there mate , if its a clone
you can find out the sim type on the packaging , or failing that the small lcd screen at boot-up will display some text relating to the sim type , "sim2 team" or "ferrari" are the most common in dm800 clones

            Thanks

How do I find out if it is a clone or original?

There is a hologram on the base of the box which reads SIM 210 or 2.10 not sure which?
