Hdmi out not working on dm80se

Just received a dm800se from china but hdmi is not working. It is 100% not the hdmi cable, or tv a I tested them with other devices and a picture is shown

The only way to get a picture is by a scart cable which is not acceptable. I opened it up to take a look but cannot see anything obvious that would stop it from working.

It came with allrussian image, so just in case it was that I put openpli image on but still no picture

Anybody any ideas?

i could be wrong here as i havent got a dm800se (yet) but on the pro version you have to select dvi in the menu so it could be the same on the se. regards mdt

Thanks for that mdt, I tried it on openpli but it still made no difference.

sorry to say...but sounds like its not working. first i heard of this as well :-(

the only thing i would suggest is to try another image mate.

Yeah I think so too, the problem is this box came from china (yaoxin)..sent them an email and waiting for a reply. Has anyone had success with returns to china?

been lucky and never had to mate......if you opened it up....could you not take off the hdmi input and put a new one in?

save the hassle of sending it back!

If you got a 2nd power supply try that, it may sound daft but I have seen instances of this before were the psu can't output enough juice for the HDMI, long shot but worth a try, btw, you wont be able to send the whole stb back as customs wont allow it, motherboard yes

I know it seems really strange, I'm going to check again as I have been using the power supply from the dm800 it is replacing

just had a thought.....if you goto setup then a/v settings.

what is the output set to..............isit scart?? ifso change it over to hdmi and i'm hoping it should sort you out.

Hi all, thanks for sticking with me..it's been quite a day.

The good news is I finally got a picture from hdmi, in the end I tried a different cable from the one supplied and it worked!

So now happily scanning channels..in hd!

It was all very strange, first tried it with my own hdmi cable connected to a tv that I had never tried connecting anything via hdmi..it did not work. So I thought it must be the tv, then tried with a different hdmi cable on a different tv..still did not work. Changed to the supplied hdmi cable, nothing. So tried scart cable and that worked. Finally after reading the comment here to assure using the supplied power supply (I was using a dm800 one)..I again switched hdmi cable and used the power supply that came with the dm800se and finally a picture was output!
