I would like to know what is the easiest way to stream MKV files from my PC to my Dreambox DM800SE? Is it even possible? I guess I have to use VLC player but do I need both VLC player installed on my PC and to have the VLC plugin installed on my DM? And then how about setting it up? Sorry but I am not network expert ;-)

I do have I hard drive in my Dreambox. So I will try to ftp them. Do you just use the standard mediaplayer on the box or which one should I use.
Though I would still prefer to stream them directly ;-)Comment

the mediaplayer that came with dream elite 133d
if your tv supports dlna like mine dose
or you have a ps3 all ps3s support dlna
download Serviio install on pc and run it select folder movies are in
go to network on your tv or ps3 search servers
it will find Serviio
and it will stream perfect the file that you selected
Serviio is a free DLNA media server
Code:http://www.serviio.org

Sorry to bump an old thread but I've setup up a CIFS mount and can browse the films on my media server but playing back there are problems. MKVs stutter and my 720p avi collection, some play but the majority jump to 49 seconds and then freeze.
I also got an AVI to play but there was no audio, audio is in AC3 5.1 format which I thought the SE should be able to cope with.
Any ideas?
Should add that the SE and media server that's serving the media are both hard wired. Same server serves films to the PS3 using PS3 media server, although the servers not that powerful it just about manages to re-encodes MKVs on the fly to serve to the PS3.Last edited by IAmATeaf; 10 January, 2012, 17:58.Comment
