    installing hdd new enigma

    Help guys
    i have a freecom usb hdd 320gb that i used to have installed on my dm800hd since then i have used it to store different things
    so have decided to format it and use it on my dm800 again
    i used to be able to record and use timeshift but god i'm having a right nightmare
    first off whats the correct filesystem i should used
    the dm800 is recognising the hdd but when i initialise it takes forever and hangs
    also timeshift pause is also not working

    please help guys

    any one no what format a usb hdd should be for a dm800hd
    need a good starting point

      It should be a case of whack it in an go mate. The dm800 formats it to what it needs. Is the dm800 recognising it for a start? I cant remember if you have to initialize it first or not..

        You can get the box to format it or use this tool. fat32format (2).zip

        Then all you need to do is mount the drive.

          Some images dont format the drive properly even though the box recognises the hard drive. easiet way is to remove drive and format it with ext3 not fat32 or ntfs .
          i use gparted which can be googled.
          just remember fat32 and ntfs are windows format, dreambox is linux so you wont go far wrong if you format ext3

            thanks mate i did actualy sort it i downloaded swissknife formated the hdd to fat32 plugged it back in and the dm800 done the rest all sorted thanks for your your time guys
