    Positioning Problem

    Hi there,
I am really desperate now. I have DM800SE with motorised dish.

I use an image from the dreambox's site.
A professional guy came to fix the dish with the motor and all was ok when he checked it with his tools but I was the one to set it up on DM 800 SE itself

I have configured the Tuner in "Positioner" mode. Lat and Lon and all is good.

I am interested only in a couple of satellites so that is why I search mostly for what is there on Astra 19 and Astra 28 + Hotburd.

I created a satellite.xml file on 'satellites-xml.eu' and uploaded it via ftp in DCC. Now I have only the sats that I am interested in.

The prblem is that I just dont get any channels. Especially on Astra 19 I get nothing at all. And I remember that when I first set it up I managed to get ARD and it froze in a minute.

Now what I get on Astra 28 is all the UK channels but as soon as I choose a channel there is a message "Service unavailable. Check tuner configuration".

What is more - if I completely reset the box I would eventually get the UK channels on a satellite that is called Turksat 31.0 !!!!
But the same thing with Astra 19.. Nothing...

I am not good with the options in the menu "Satfinder" and "Positioner Setup". I think that it is there that I have messed up something - in "Positioner Setup" to be precise.

I did a Factory reset - same result.
I certainly could just stay with the Turksat 31.0 E and the UK channels but that is not what I want....

Any idea and help would be very much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Bob

It sounds like to me mate that your dish is pointing one way, but your box thinks its on the right satellite. Ive had that a few times myself, scanning a satellite I thought I could not recieve and thinking `woohoo ive got it!'.. turns out it was the same one I was scanning 5 mins previous - the wrong one!

The key here is to get ONE bang on as a reference, its such a pain in the ass. Go into the positioner setup and set it to a transponder on 28.2, one that you KNOW has a channel that should be on there, such as BBC or so. Okay, now go outside and take a look at your dish compared to next doors, just to get a rough idea of which way you need to be pointing. Get back inside and move the dish either east or west depending on which way you have to go. Just go easy on it as you can fly past it pretty quick if your not carefull. Once you pick it up you can then fine tune it to give the best result. Then SAVE it in your positioner as pos 1 say.

Go back to your tuner settings where you put your long and lat in, turn off USALS and put in the position part the number 1.

Okay, go and check around on the channels and see if it picks up the rest of the gear, it should do..

Next - go back to positioner setup. You want to scan in for 19.2 now, so pick a transponder in the menu that you know has a channel on it on 19.2. Then slowly move west until you pick up the stregth again. When you have got it, save it as position number 2.

Go back to tuner settings again, find 19.2 and change the pos number to number 2, like we did a few steps back.

Get it now? Now you can go and find 13.0 using 19.2 as a ref, just go a bit further west each time.

You will get it mate eventually and wonder what all the fuss was about

    Hope that helps!

          you bet I will...
not sure if that is something you would know but thought to share it.
          what i did is actually

          - Setup / Service Searching / Positioner Set Up

          and then found Astra 28

I then went to Tuner Configuration and chose
Advanced mode instead of the Simple/Positioner
Chose Astra28 and then LNB1 Diseq mode 1.2
Also chose NO for "Use Usals"
Had to do that in order to get the option Stored Position where I put 001.

Still being at the Tuner Configuration I did the same for Astra 19 and then got the channels.

          Great !!!

However, I still seem to get some channels that are supposed to be on Astra 23 at Arabsat 26..
          Same issue.

Now what I did is I went back to Positioner Setup and to Tune with the red button.

However, Astra 28 is chosen there and I cannot change it to another satellite.

          Would that make sense?
          You got similar experience?

Thank you so much once again !

I think I got it now - I am able to tune all the sats. Not sure what happened but it is ok now.
            Cheers once again
