    dm800hd fitting hard drive

i know if i install an internal hd in the receiver it has to be a sata.
but if i fit an external hd in caddy must that also have to be sata?
could this not be an ide hd
and read also that there may not be enough power from the usb to make the external hd work
has anyone got an ide hd working on their receiver?

I've used an IDE HDD through an external powered USB Caddy (Not USB powered). SATA is a faster interface than IDE, so is the preferred option anyway.

      thanks for the reply lincsat
i do a bit of reading before i post anything, and i had never seen anywhere people used ide external drives, but had read on this forum where people had problems getting their drive to work because of not enough power from the usb just assumed that they used sata or esata.
well looks as if i may have to look for a internal sata one then don,t need a massive one.

I only tried the IDE drive in a mains powered caddy, I have one left over from the Eurovox days. I use an internal SATA drive in my own box.
