update bootloader from 76

Been a while since iv messed with my dreambox but it is starting to crash on certain things so im gona reflash it iv flashed plenty in the past but its been around 12 months since so,

couple of questions,

its a dm800 bl76 clone can i update the bootloader to run the latesed images if so how?

im currently using nabilo blackhole are there any better ones around now?

is there any chance of me bricking the box if i flash a newer botloader?

advice appreciated chaps.

Look for the DreameliteBH 133 Phoenix edition, there is one floating around with SSL82 and some updated drivers. It's one of the latest original Blackhole images around and does seem to flash straight onto SIM2 boxes without any problem.

great stuff cheers , so just to confirm my box which is running bl76, i can flash this (sim201-SS82-de-133dv3 PHOENIX2) strait to my clone and it will not brick it, sorry for the flapping just cant afford a new se till i get back to work!


also will the newer bootloader make much difference.

As long as the sim in your box is 2.01 then yes it will be ok.

so all good then, will the newer bootloader improve my box in anyway? i already running blackhole pheonix (flashed it this afternoon) with bl76 so am wondering if its worth using the newer loader version??

The Phoenix2 supposedly has updated drivers, if everything is OK, you may not notice any difference. I have used this image on many Pro boxes and a few pre-pro boxes without issue - even got it working on a Ferrari box by flashing the Ferrari SSL82F after loading the image.

well have to say after a couple of days this is a cracking image, going down the channel lists is a lot faster, remote seems more responsive (somehow), great image overall.

one thing, i cant get the cross epg working with the usb stick. i have it working if i use the hard drive as the storage for the epg but dont like it running all the time. usb stick is mounted correctly and has picons on it which work well. when i select usb drive to store epg data it downloads but epg does not show on the osd?

i can live with using the hardrive for epg but just wondering if anyones come across this.?
