I got mine fixed by installing the GP2 DVB Time plugin, and disabling the transponder time.
As much as I can remember and figure out from my settings, i did the following:

    1. Extract the attached.
    2. FTP the plugin to /tmp
    3. In one of my Dreambox menu's, I had option to install plugin from tmp directory so i used that. You may have to find out how to do this on your image.
    4. Restart dreambox.
    5. FTP to /etc
    6. Edit or create "ntp.conf"
    7. I added a line at the top "SERVER time.windows.com" (i guess you can use your other favourite NTP server!)
    8. On Dreambox under Main Menu, System Settings find "GP2 DVB Time Settings"
    9. Use these settings:
Show NTP message on startup : off
    NTP-Server autostart : on
    DVB Time check autostart: off
    Engima 2 Timeupdate : off

    10: restart

same here mate iv'e tried everything from images ,script added
to the e2 settings etc and the one i have is the same, it has to
be a fault on the box mainboard but i cant see anything that looks
damaged or burned etc, iv'e opened and tried different sim cards etc:
so i dont think it can be sent back but if you have not opened yours
and you got the box recently then try contacting the shop/supplier
who you got it from and ask for a exchange, i have unplugged mine
and ordered a vu+duo clone that i hope to get this week,
other than the clock problem the box works great,

I have this problem but have hacked my way out of it.

For me the time was getting messed up when in stand-by or when channels were changed.

I have set up a cron job that runs every minute (or specifically when the time changes from 59 to 00 seconds) and syncs the time with my linux server.

It's far from ideal, but the box itself is perfect in every other way for me.

            well bugger it...
I thought i'd test my own instructions on another image, but it didn't work, so I restored to my backup, which also now doesn't work.
So I guess I'm now back in the same boat...groan :-(

This link has a reference to inaccurate clock as a fix but I've no idea what version of Enigma the SE images have as I don't have that box

i have had this problem on standby for a long time
and iv'e spent days at it testing and trying everything
and anything, but today iv'e had everything working for
hours by using the SERVER time.windows.com and adding a
couple of lines of script in the settings folder using the
latest sim 2.10 merlin3 image i will add a folder if anyone
wants to make a test and see if it works for them all the info
is in the doc with the file

                          Try Telnet this line:

                          date -s 2012.01.04-19:30:00
                          using DCC Telnet
Change the date and time to what you need.

                          Note:
There is a space before and after -s

                            Hi all,

I am Singapore and got a 800SE 3 weeks ago. The time issue surfaced after 2 weeks of use. Tried all means and methods described here to no avail.

Think its truely a hardware defect. Will swop for a new box and see what happens.

I agree. It must be a bad batch or something. Might have a look at the 800 HD as this does not have this issue.

just to add to this info i have just had a pm from
a member elsewhere who tried this fix for the clock
and found to get it to work he had to load the GP2DVBTime plugin
from the ts panel and then added the ntp conf file re booted and then
from the ts panel uninstall he removed the GP2DVBTime plugin and re booted again
and now his settings are set like mine and his clock keeping time on standby
it did'nt work with the GP2DVBTime plugin loaded on his box,
