i noticed on the dreambox 800 hd se the picture quality in the info page of channels epg is super quality on the side view channel box but when open full screen channel its quality drops ?

The box is only good as the tv its on :-)

Smaller picture always looks sharper.
If you had a 17" quality TV and a 50" quality TV...same make showing same pic, the smaller one will look sharper. X amount of lines in smaller display gives the impression of being sharper.
