DM800HD se Problems Initializing Hard drive

I am a relative noob to the sat scene. I have purchased a DM800HD se from a china source and am very impressed with the box. I have installed the Dreamelite v2.1 and got Epg and picons updating and working well. My problem is the 60gb seagates hard drive I installed internally.
The box recognizes the drive! I can format the drive and can see it in device manager. But when I try to initialize I get following message.
'Unable to initialize harddisk' error: Mount failed.
I have struggled for several days and feel I am going around in circles. Has anybody had this issue before or can anybody offer advice as to what I need to do?
I have already gained vast knowledge from all the informative posts and tutorials on this fantastic forum. Just hoping one of the forums experts may have a solution for this issue.

theres an option in the menu somewhere to mount the drive

se is normally plug and play,never had any problems with mine compared to the old 800 hd,
using new enigma image here

Thanks for your comments. I am able to mount the drive under mass storage. media/hdd (is that correct)? However I am still unable to record.

Although I didnt solve the hard drive error. I have now got recording working. Installed as you recommended the new nigma2 image. Thanks
I do get a message on start up saying a firmware upgrage is available. Can I upgrade? Dont want to crash the box! Also what about timeshift how do I set that up?

only for original,theres a option to disable that on boot up,cant think wer at the min,have a browse

One more question Porter. How do you set the picon ? I seem to have got everythingelse working. I have found the advanced menu. What do i type in to download to flash. Regards and many thanks!

alight porter1 i have one of these boxes and cant seem to record a future event on the epg with out the box crashing also once it is recording i cant stop it any ideas i have blackhole software download sim2 v.3.1.6.6 ta mate

On Blackhole, to stop recording press RED and select stop Recording.

picons are best instaled on USB stik....as flashing might give problems with the limited memory and might affect image same goes for harddisk...just remember when instaling on usb to restart DM because if you just plug in straight away you will get no media found............. ))
