Once you have slid it into the socket inside the box, that's it.

    No other connections.

Switch on and (in my case) it will work, otherwise you will need to initialize the HDD.

      Hi,

      Thanks.

I figured the plugging back part, but my confusion came from the drive not being recognised at all - it's a wd blue scorpion 1tb drive.

I can't figure out why it wouldn't even be recognised for a working drive, it couldn't be the size being too big, could it?

      Thanks in advance.

      Yours kindly,

      RR

i have installed 1tb drives so that should be fine.

Have you gone to the settings and mounted it and see if that has found it?

can you take the drive out and attach to a pc and format to fat32? as i find that it always picked up in the box once it is fat32

Fat32 filesystems have a maximum file size of 4GB. So if you where recording a movie or something in HD, it may freeze/stop/crash once the 4GB limit is reached.

Go for ext3, dependant on block size, max file size can be between 16gb - 1tb. This is more suited for the Dreambox, and the right file system for it as well.

When you format it in the DM, it should make it the correct type if you are unsure. Just make sure you do format it in Enigma2 to save further headaches/problems.
