ca error again!!!! :(

Hi folks...santa just brought me a dm800 clone...had some horrible image on so i thought id flash it... sim 201 ssl84... thought id picked the correct one but obvously not as i now have the ca error.

i hve a usb 2 serial cable...which ive tried before and never got connected...so i also asked santa for a pci serial card..which ive installed in my pc...win 7 ... card shows up using com 3... ive tried about 10 versions of dreamup trying to connect via com 3 (only com1 and 3 available in dreamup) ive tried both...when it tells me to connect i plug in the mans and nothing happens...just boots up to the ca error message and dreamup sits there with no box info...ive tried my new 800 and my old 500... cant get anything connected...help!!! please!!!

Patience is the key
Have you tried the Enforcer program i think its in downloads.

oooooooooo havnt heard of enforcer program...

i was thinking it was connection from card to dm800 rather than dreamup problem...

all i can try is the father in laws old pc tomorrow...with built in rs232 port.. can anyone point me in the right direction for correct image..

i think what messed mine up was putting OpenPLi-2.1-beta-dm800-20111225 that on........ i cant remember now if mine was sim 201 or 2.1?

Sounds like you just had a bad flash,any image with sim2.1 or sim2.01 will be fine.Download a fresh one.
Try it again with dreamup 1.3.3.4 on a desktop pc with null modem cable and try the enforcer if it doesnt connect with Dreamup. The reason you cant flash with browser is you have no ip address on the box.

grabbed that ... thanks... i got it all working yesterday...took to father in laws old pc with proper rs232 socket on the back...connected no problem...flashed with blackhole pheonix edition... works lovely...got the epg working...got recording working to external hdd... just gotta find out where to put the picons folder.. and im all done! thanks everyone for help

By default, iy looks for Picons in the /media/usb or /media/cf or in flash at /usr/share/enigma2/

You can put them on the HDD if you change the target in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components/Renderer/Picon.py

Here's a picon.py file that I have already changed, extract it from the archive and put it in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components/Renderer/
