A common question but I'm stuck

Hi. Basically my dm800 clone has got itself stuck in the CA error carry on.

I have tried every step bar the crossover cable bit as I plan to try that tomorrow when I buy one from the bargain shop called Maplin. When I use the cracked dreamup I dont get anything appearing after I connect but I can use the flash button and when I try flashing the file is too big. Yous have heard it all before.

So I'm wondering will the crossover cable fix that and I will be able to see something? Secondly, I hear talk of serial and serial null cables. Different people say different things and that plain serial wont work etc. I have a plain serial cable with a usb end from Maplin. you will also need a null modem cable to connect from
the usb to serial convert you have and a patched dreamup
loader from the forum. also you need the cat5 cable to the router
connected then you can clear the error no ca problem there should be
a tut in red at the top of this section on how to use dream up

So the serial cable I have isnt up to the job really? I have the patched dreamup and I have that program which you run to unlock the grey buttons. I have about every dreamup haha.

So I need a NULL cable and not plain serial? Will a null cable with usb adapter be OK?

if like me your computer does'nt have a 9 pin serial port
you need to use a usb to serial convertor with a null modem cable
i run windows 7 and it set up the usb to serial conver drivers when
i plugged it in and with a null modem cable works first class .

I take it you mean an attachment which fits onto the null rather than a actual converter all built in?

Would a 25 pin to 9 pin converter work as I know a few PCs which have 25 pin connections

you need the maplins usb to serial convertor cable
and a null modem cable that connects to it, then
it will work, you cant use a 25 pin port it wont work
i use the same convertor from maplins they do work

if dreamup is working and uploading from
your box when i goes into http mode load the image
with dreamup and when finished re boot the dreambox
by un pluging and powering up again not the box should be ok
also why do you need anouther computer if everything works,
