depends what you want to do...... i don't really do any recordig and i got 60gb for timeshift (pause, rewind etc) and stuff and epg.....still got enough to record as well.
i would say if your going to record hd content - films etc...160gb would be sufficient....but ofcourse the more recording you do the more space you will need.
So if I fit this sata 2.5 in my box dm800 I cannot just record, I can pause rewind live tv ect just like sky+
but only record the channel it's on ?
is this correct, and the wires that came in dm800 box & 4 screws is all I need to fit it in ?
Thx in advance folks

Hi, ya, would need to initiliaze hdd in setup of image, or mount it depends what image your using, also for rewinding etc, you would need timeshift plugin loaded
I've got PTS installed and enabled and even with a few recordings there's still loads of space left.
I think I also recall reading somebody got a 500gb drive working.
As to how easy it is to get the image to start using the disk, that depends entirely on the image. I use OpenPLi and that has always picked the drive up automatically.
on a Dm 800 Hd SE/SR4 - the procedure is the same. But must install in e2 image the 40.kb plugin- where will it go in directory ??
I understand I must initialize the disk prior to the installation of plugin. Thanks for confirming .rgds

if you unzip the attached file and install it in your image. this will allow live rewind, pause etc.
and as lombard said you would need to initialise the disk before you can do anything
i have always found the wd 5400 disks to work very well you may find nowadays that its cheaper to buy a large hdd such as 500gb/1000gb cheaper than some of the smaller ones
