Can a dm800se mess up my network?

my dreambox today seems to have messed up my router, all my speeds went down and naff all worked. i took stuff out of my router and it seems to me that the dm800se has messed up my router so i have reset it all and messed about and everything is working but i dont really want to put my dm800se back into my router just incase it does it again.

can someone hack into my dm800se if its connected via an ethernt cable? or am just being paranoid?

If there's a fault with the network port on the SE it could cause problems but don't think it would mess the router up.

You need to give us more details on what exactly happened to the router and what you had to do to fix it before we can comment.

i had to throw it against the wall in anger hahaha

i updated a dm800se bouquets that i have in the bedroom, it hasnt even updated the bouquets ..my net speed went really slow and i couldnt connect to any torrents or anything...i reset my router without success..so i started one by one removing the ethernet cables from my router, i took out the dm800se and everything was fine again..i am very sceptical as to whether the dm800se is at fault or not..but may just not bother plugging back in

but it seems pointless me having it just sat there

You've tried changing the ethernet cable and port that it's plugged into to eliminate those as possibilities.

I would of thought its more likely to be torrents screwing up your router. Some routers just cant properly handle large numbers of simultaneous connections and do odd things at random intervals as they partly crash.

Very unlikely your dreambox can affect the router unless, as stated above, the hardware is kaput. There's no way for the dreambox to modify settings in the router unless it knows the router password. About the worst thing it could do is sit continuously throwing packets onto the network so there's no bandwidth for anything else.

It could be an IP conflict, usually with DHCP set ON there isn't a problem but you could switch the DHCP to OFF and set an IP well away from anything else on your network but in the correct range.

              Hmmm
              I recently started using a DM800se.
At first did not pay much notice but my network went nuts...
              Then again.... everything died...
So got onto the router and the CPU had gone through the roof.
I can see the CPU going mad & loose all connectivity, disconnect the DM800se and all settles down to normal.

              Any thoughts????
